Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs officials paid a visit to the NBSSI
Government’s goal for an accelerated National Development has placed a principal focus on the private sector, where public – private partnership has been singled out as one main channel for achieving government’s target of development.
It is in this light that the Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (AYE) Ghana paid a familiarization visit to the National Board for Small Scale Industries to enlighten themselves on the working protocols of the board.
The delegation led by the group’s president; Mr. Abbey Richard on Wednesday 20th March 2019 called on the Executive Director of NBSSI Kosi Antwiwaa Yankey, and some staff of the board.
Speaking at the meeting after a thorough introduction by members of AYE Ghana in attendance, the president outlined the purpose of the group which included capacity building, access to funding, business networking and business to business collaborations. Responding to the purpose of visit, Mad. Philomena Gyan of NBSSI gave an introduction to the role of the board.
She stated some of the core duties of the board which included Capacity training for small scale businesses, Support and counselling for members, Funding for registered members, Organization of trade fairs to name a few.
The NBSSI she said, has about 178 District offices and Business Advisories. One major challenge however facing the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI)she said, is the repayment of soft loans. Due to this factor the NBSSI is currently focused on supporting services.
Kosi Antwiwaa Yankey the Executive Director advised that organizations should not bash the Government but rather meet with the appropriate offices to jaw jaw.
Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs however registered with the National Board for Small Scale (NBSSI) as a member after the meeting and pledged to engage NBSSI going forward on capacity building and soft loans for its members.
Members of the Alliance in attendance included Mr. Richard Abbey (President) Mr. Eric Ofori Aryeetey (Organizer), Mr. Alain Gbeasor, Mr. Albert Obidiaba and Nana Adwoa Sifa, Adu Armani and George Nyemi-tei.
