Activa International Insurance affirms its commitment to women in business

Activa International Insurance company Limited has affirmed its commitment to women in Business by partnering with Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) to officially launch AGI Women in Business at the Accra International Conference centre, Accra on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.

Under the theme: Promoting Women Enterprises for Gender Equity towards Competitiveness, the AGI Women in Business (AGI-WIB) ceremony was part of the activities of the 3-days Ghana Industrial Summit & Exhibition 2019 held at Accra International Conference centre, Accra, from 10th to 12th September, 2019.

In a speech read on behalf of Activa to the AGI women in Business at the ceremony, Mrs. Belinda Ofori, head of Retail & SME, who also head the women’s desk at Activa said, the company is excited to be part of the historic event as the company itself is launching its women’s wing in a few weeks time; and the company intends to work hand in hand with AGI women’s wing to bring the needed risk management and business development skills to the teaming women entrepreneurs in Ghana.

The message continued that: “As a partner to the AGI for more than six consecutive years, Activa International Insurance wishes to assure the AGI women’s wing of its continual unflinching support aimed at not only increasing the number of thriving women owned businesses in Ghana but also to ensure their continuity and sustenance for many years to come”.

Commenting on why Activa supported this initiative, the Managing Director of Activa, Mr. Solomon Lartey said that his company holds the belief that advancing gender equality is smart economics, sound business practice and essential development policy.

“When women and men have equal opportunities to shape their own lives and contribute to their families, communities and countries, it leads to enhanced productivity, improved development outcomes and better performance by business and institutions”, Mr. Solomon Lartey explained.

The AGI WIB was officially launched by Her Excellency Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana; and the ceremony was attended by the President of AGI, Dr. Yaw Adu Gyamfi, the CEO of Vodafone Ghana, Mad. Patricia Obo-Nai, who chaired the ceremony and other dignitaries. The new Executives of the AGI-WIB were also inaugurated at the ceremony.
