The Eastern Regional Police has arrested 15 persons in connection with the kidnapping of three young ladies in Takoradi.
The suspects were reportedly arrested at Nuaso in Odumase following a swoop by a team of police officers.
Three girls - Priscilla Blessing Bentum, Ruth Love Quayson and Priscilla Koranchie – have been kidnapped in Takoradi within the last five months.
The prime suspect was later identified as a Nigerian national called Samuel Wilson Udoterg.
But the police said all attempts to get him to disclose the location of the kidnapped girls has proved futile.
However, speaking to Accra-based Joy FM, the Odumasi Police Commander, ASP Harry Selormey, said 15 more suspects have been apprehended.
According to him, a team of officers from Takoradi, where the young ladies had gone missing, initiated the operation with relevant intelligence on where the suspects could be picked up.
All 15 suspects have since been sent to the Police Headquarters in Accra as investigations continue into the case.
Meanwhile, the Western Regional Police Commander, Vincent Dedzoe, has revealed that the prime suspect in the kidnapping had an acquaintance with all his victims.
According to him, Samuel Wilson Udoterg promised two of the girl's jobs and another was promised a mobile phone.
DCOP Dedzoe added that the suspect has a criminal record, having previously been convicted for kidnapping in Nigeria.
