The Asante-Mampong police had stepped up its fight to bring down highway robbery and other crimes in the area.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdulai Iddrisu, the Municipal Commander, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that they have not only improved their intelligence gathering but increase the regular patrols.
He said they were determined to carry the battle to the miscreants in the society and bring them to justice.
The Police Commander therefore warned criminals to reform or face the full force of the law.
The warning comes following the arrest of a suspected robber, Hamidu Abdul Rahman at the Aboantem barrier.
The 26-year old, who is believed to be of the Fulani extraction, had engaged the services of a taxi driver to carry him from Mampong to Bosomkyekye at about midnight.
The police on duty at the barrier decided to carry out a thorough search of the car and its occupants when it pulled up and that paid off as a locally manufactured gun and two live cartridges were found concealed on Rahman.
Asked how he came by the weapon, the suspect claimed it was given to him by his Chinese employer.
DSP Iddrisu said Rahman would soon be put before court and appealed to the public to continue to provide the police with useful leads to hunt down criminals.**
