Freda Prempeh, Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection has warned the 517,332 candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) nationwide to desist from examination malpractices to avoid cancellation of results.

She expressed the hope that all major stakeholders in the education sector would do their possible best to guarantee credible results of the BECE.

In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mrs. Prempeh who is the Member of Parliament for Tano North Constituency in the newly-created Ahafo Region advised the candidates to take their time to read and understand well before tackling the examination questions.

She also urged the candidates not to panic, saying they were just being examined on what they had already been taught in school.

“It is my hope and prayer that, you all come out with flying colours as a product of your persistency, hardworking and dedications. I hope you will all pass well to enable you to enjoy the Free SHS under the government of the NPP for a brighter future”, she stated.

“Please kindly prepare well and desist from all kinds of examination malpractices, prepare well, take your time to read and understand the questions for clarification” she advised the candidates.

“Again, I wish all teachers and invigilators good luck with the task today. It's our hope that all the major stakeholders in education would do their possible best to ensure credible BECE this year”.

“I would also like to urge parents and guardians to provide candidates with the necessary support to ensure that they have sufficient time to study accurately and an acceptable environment for their examinations”, the Deputy Minister added.
