Launching the training course in Accra Monday, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah urged the participants to pay close attention to details and learn in order to benefit from the course.

She said, “Your being here is not automatic that you will be called to serve under the CID department rather your performance at the end of the course will determine your fate.”

DCOP Addo-Danquah advised the officers to seize the opportunity and network among themselves in order to be informed about what goes on in other police stations.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the launch, Superintendent Benjamin Affisah, Commandant of the Detective Training Academy said, the 77 personnel, three officers from the Military Police and two officers from the Immigration Service taking part in the training were drawn from all ten regions of Ghana.

According to him, the purpose of the training is to offer opportunity to officers be well-informed about current trends of crimes and how to investigate them.

“We have realized that crime is becoming sophisticated, so from time to time we also have to revise our strategies and as part of our strategies we have to train and retrain our personnel,” he explained.

Supt. Affisah said there was the need to catch up or even be ahead of criminals in order to effectively curb the rising crime rates in the country.
