Two teenagers allegedly defile a 14-year-old girl

Tema, Nov. 22, GNA -- Tema Circuit Court 'A' on Thursday remanded Samuel Okoe, a student and Micheal Tetteh a fisherman both 16 years to the Bolster Institute for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl. They pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to defile and defilement and would re-appear on December 13.

Police Chief Inspector Sarah Acquah, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that the victim was a Junior High School student who stayed with her grandmother at Tema Manhean. She said on October 17, this year at about 1900 hours the victim who was returning home after visiting her sister who also resides at Tema Manhean was dragged by Okoe and Tetteh into a wooden structure. Police Chief Inspector Acquah said Okoe covered the victim's mouth with a rag and forcibly defiled her after which Tetteh also took over and indecently assaulted her.

She said a witness heard a noise in the structure and entered but the accused persons on seeing her bolted leaving the victim behind. The prosecution said the witness reported the incident to the victim's grandmother who lodged a complaint with the Tema New Town Domestic Violence Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) and issued the victim with a medical form to attend hospital.

Police Chief Inspector Acquah said the accused persons were arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
