Worcester, Massachusetts – Internationally-acclaimed undercover journalist, Anas Amereyaw Anas, will deliver the keynote address at the 4th Annual African Youth Excellence Awards on July 23, 2016. The event is hosted by African Youth Excellence, Inc. (AYE), a nonprofit dedicated to highlighting the accomplishments of African youth. The ceremony recognizes Pursuers, young Africans aged 18-35 pursing outstanding projects to better their communities in the fields of art, education, information technology, entrepreneurship, innovation, and humanitarianism.
Under complete anonymity, Anas has exposed corruption across Africa: from seedy outlaws to corrupt security officials to fraudulent public servants and Supreme Court judges. He has won over 14 international awards for his work. He has been listed twice as one of most influential Ghanaians by ETV and named one of the "Most Influential Africans of the Year" by New African magazine. He has also been profiled by VICE and CNN. Anas truly embodies this year’s AYE Awards theme, ‘The Continent in your Hands’ by continuously fighting to bring attention to African issues on the international stage. In addition to delivering the keynote address, Anas will also be honored with the Excellence in Journalism Award for his advocacy for human rights and anti-corruption work.
The 4th Annual African Youth Excellence Awards will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 7:00 P.M. - 11:00 P.M. at Mechanics Hall on 321 Main Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. The ceremony will be a black tie gala, with a red carpet, cocktail hour and dinner. The event is expected to draw over 200 attendees, including young African professionals and local and state officials.
