Anas mourns Kofi Annan; says he was a ‘constant inspiration’

Ace investigative journalist, Anas Armeyaw Anas has said he is saddened by the loss of former Secretary General of the United Nations Kofi Annan.

The investigative journalist who has received commendation and a citation from Mr Annan for his investigative exposés posted his message on Twitter accompanied by a picture of the iconic Ghanaian diplomat.

Anas tweeted Saturday that he was “deeply saddened by the death of Kofi Annan.

“He’s always been a constant inspiration for us to go further and reach higher. Rest in peace, General,” he added.

President Akufo-Addo has ordered that flags fly at half mast in mourning. Also, Ghana’s diplomatic missions across the world, are to fly all Ghana flags at half mast from Monday, 20th August 2018, for one week.

Messages have since being pouring in from World leaders and top diplomats.



Meanwhile, Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has eulogized Kofi Annan.

The former UN Secretary General died in Switzerland early today. It is reported that he died comfortably in his sleep.

Reacting to news of his death, former President, John Dramani Mahama said Kofi Annan fought for peace and sustainable development in challenging times.

His post on his social media platforms read “He lived and worked for global peace, security and sustainable development in very challenging times. A proud son of Ghana and Africa. RIP Kofi Annan”.
