One Ghanaian, together with his African-American family has taken the HIV/AIDS situation in Ghana and Africa to a whole new level. This initiative was started by Nana Amo Adjepong and the group, Providence Center for Humanity International Inc., NY. They have decided to take a serious matter in their own hands, by incorporating the case management concept as practiced in NY for Ghana. A VIP Ministerial Reception and Fundraising Awards dinner to benefit "HIV/AIDS PROGRAM FOR AFRICA" was held at the Eastwood Manor, Bronx, NY. The event has its blessing from the castle at Osu, Ghana.
The special guests invited included; First Lady Theresa Kufuor(who could not make it to the event but sent a letter of support which was read on her behalf by Ghana's ambassador to the UN, His excellency, Nana Effah Appenteng), His excellency was there with other diginitaries. Mr. Charles Nimmo N-Mensah, aka Mr. CNN, Ghanaweb's award-winning cameraman was there to lend his support as well as Mr. Kwabena Manu, aka Honorable Pancho, Mr. Thomas Mensah (both of Ghana National Council, NY, Ghana Nurses Association, NY, Ghana United Methodist Church, NY and many groups.
The event was well attended by Ghanaians and African Americans in the US. The attendees were briefed on the current situation on HIV/AIDS in Ghana and Africa as a whole. It is very interesting to know the many lives lost as a result of this dreadful disease. LET US ALL CONTINUE TO HELP ERADICATE HIV/AIDS IN THE WORLD.
