Ghana's mission in New York worships with Muslim community

A delegation from the Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations and the Consulate General in New York, last Friday March 8, 2019, worshipped with the Ghanaian Muslim Community, Yankasa Association in Bronx New York.

The Ghana Mission in New York annually worships with the Yankasa Association and special prayers are offered as part of the Independence Day Anniversary of Ghana.

Professor Samuel K. Amoako, Consul General of the Consulate General in New York, ceased the opportunity to explain the theme for this year's Independence Day Anniversary that is, Celebrating Peace and Unity. He revealed how Ghana's neighbors have experienced one attack or the other but the country has been spared. The eskinment of Yaa-Naa Abubakari Mahama II, Overlord of the Dagbon Traditional Area and our harmonious coexistence gives us enough reason to celebrate peace and unity.

The creation of six new regions, an attempt to bring development to every Ghanaian was featured in his address as part of government's achievements. He also reminded the people of government's commitment to support the Electoral Commission on the implementation of ROPAA.

The Deputy Permanent Representative of Ghana's Mission to the UN, Daniel Okaiteye on his turn, thanked the Yankasa Association for raising the flag of Ghana and its image high in the Community. He expressed his appreciation for their unity of purpose and peaceful nature.

Chief Imam Sulley, Chief Imam of the Yankasa Masjid prayed for Ghana and advised Ghanaians not to take the peace of the country for granted. He also cautioned Ghanaians to be mindful of what they say especially in public.

The Interim Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Shuaibu Gali and the Secretary to the Council of Elders, Professor Adam Musah on behalf of the group were grateful for the visit of the Mission.

Delegations from Ghana Mission were Mr Daniel Okaiteye (Deputy Permanent Representative), Professor Samuel K. Amoako (Consul General), Mrs Vivian Serwaa Gyasi (Head of Chancery), Colonel John Felix Freeman (Deputy Military Advisor), Sylvester Acquah (Chief Treasury Officer ) and Frederick Ameyaw (Head of Information).
