The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described as “laughable” claims that his height will be a major factor to his inability to assume the highest office of the land.

He told host of PEACE FM’s flagship morning, Kwami Sefa Kayi, that “I am not bothered about that at all.”

The NPP flagbearer has been derided by some members of the ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC] as a “short and old man” who is not fit to be president.

A couple of months ago at the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign for the 2016 elections, a key figure of the ruling party, Nii Lantey Vaderpuije mocked the physical height of the main opposition leader.

“The presidency is not for short people,” he told a gathering of party faithful at the new Cape Coast stadium in the Central Region.

Asked if the jokes about his stature get to him, Nana Akufo Addo, speaking in an exclusive interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on PEACE FM’s morning show Kokrokoo, noted that though he is not bothered – “the negative politics must stop.”

“We should talk politics of issues. That is more important. Our major problem in this country is about jobs; that is what we have to solve not insults and irrelevant issues,” he said.

He assured Ghanaians that victory for him and the NPP in the December 7 elections would mean that the country will be put at the forefront of the industrialisation efforts of West Africa.
