Rotaract Club of Central University supports Heart of the Father Orphanage

The Rotaract Club of Central University has reached out to the Heart of the Father Orphanage located at old Ningo in the Greater Region of Ghana.

The campus-based Rotaract Club donated items such as bags of rice, tin tomatoes, drinks, biscuits, gallons of oil, washing soaps, packs of milo and some stationery.

Presenting the items to the orphanage, President of the Rotaract Club of Central University, Wenyonu Patrick Kakraba explained that Rotaract Clubs is in the business of serving its community, hence the gesture of donating to the orphanage.

Mrs Vesna Quartson and Mr. George Owusu, upon received the items on behalf of the orphanage and thanked the Rotaract Club of Central University and their sponsor club, Rotary Club of Accra Airport. She also noted, the items will be put into good use, for the benefit of the children.

Heart of the Father Orphanage has been in existence for over twenty years now, it has over fifteen orphans who are between the ages of two and eighteen. It started as an orphanage home and has recently started a school which is about a year old.

The school currently accommodates children from the nursery level to primary one. The school has two teachers for the nursery level and one for the primary one level.

Commenting on the donation, Ms Quartson stated that some of the orphans are currently in the Senior High Schools while some are in private universities in the country.

She added that they needed a larger kitchen, a bigger dining area for the children and more classroom blocks for effective teaching and learning.

President of the Rotary club of Accra Airport, Mrs Afua Ababio, noted that they were going to keep a close relationship with the orphanage.

“We will be visiting you on regularly basis to see how you are faring and also offer a helping hand to the best of our ability” she added.

The Rotaractors and Rotarians further interacted with the children at the orphanage after touring the facility. The children prayed for the club and thanked them for reaching out to them.

Rotaract club brings together people ages eighteen to thirty years to exchange ideas with leaders of communities, develop leadership and professional skills and have fun through serving.
