AMERI wins Best Emerging Energy Company award

AMERI Energy has been adjudged the Best Emerging Energy Company of the Year at the 2018 Ghana Energy Awards.

It emerged winner in the category of the Emerging Energy Company of the year after competing with Apha Power Ventures and Sun In Limited.

At the awards ceremony, held at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra last Friday, a number of individuals and energy firms were also recognised.


The awards, organised by the Energy Media Group, a media firm with a focus on energy issues, also saw a former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Mr Tsatsu Tsikata, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award, while the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company, Dr Ben Asante, was adjudged CEO of the Year (Petroleum), with Ghana Gas winning the Best Industry Leadership Award.

The Energy Awards are held to acknowledge efforts, innovation and excellence stewards and to celebrate the tremendous work of the players competing under various categories of the awards in Ghana’s energy sector. The Ghana Energy Awards Scheme was instituted to recognise the efforts of individuals and organisations in Ghana’s energy sector.

This year’s awards, which are the second, recognised the achievements of individuals and companies in the energy industry and were well attended by over 300 stakeholders.

AMERI Energy

AMERI Energy is a Dubai based company responsible for the supply of 250MW ISO rated power sited in Aboadze near the VRA’s thermal power complex to ease load shedding in the country.

The plant comprises 10 GE TM 2500 and its associated balance of plant equipment. It operates on natural gas which is fed into the 161kV power transmission network.

The company has so far trained over 80 per cent of Ghanaian local staff on how to maintain and operate the plant.

The Country Manager of Ameri Energy, Mr Francis Kpollu, acknowledged the staff of the company for their commitment to provide the requisite power for Ghana’s development.

He said the award would motivate the team to deliver more power to support the country’s development agenda as the company had bought into the vision of Ghana Beyond Aid.
