Influential AshGold defender Samuel Abeiku Ainooson has expressed anger over his side’s 2-1 home defeat struggling Elmina Sharks.

The hardworking defender could hardly acceptthe defeat following an unbeaten run in the second round with important away wins over Medeama SC and Hearts of Oak.

“If you look at our situation right now, even if we will drop points it should not be at home. If we lose points at home in this manner it’s going to make our course very difficult and that is what I was explaining to the coach”

He continued to explain that he took a risk by leaving Asante Kotoko to the Miners on loan and cannot watch on as the side is relegated.

“You know the risk I took by leaving Kotoko to this place so if things are going this way we do not have to go to sleep. My mission here to help the team stay in the league and so far as I am here I will not allow this team go on relegation”

He however admitted that the defeat which ended an impressive seven-game unbeaten run serves as a wake up call for them.

The miners play another relegation threatened team Liberty at Dansoman in their next league game.

Liberty sit just below Ashantigold with 26 points while Ashgold have 28 points. A defeat at Dansoman may break the camel’s back.
