A newly constituted seven-member Board of Directors of the Cocoa Marketing Company Limited (CMC), a subsidiary of the Ghana Cocoa Board, has been sworn into office by the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture on September 5, 2017.
Members of the Board are Joseph Kobina Essidu, Anthony Osei Boakye; Former MP of Atwima Nwabiagya, Dr. Emmnuel Osei Tuffour, Charles Nornoo, Dr. Johnson P. Asiama; Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, David Nii Klotey Collison from the Ministry of Finance and Dr. K. Mensah-Aborampah.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy to the directors and urged them to help revamp the cocoa industry since they’ve been sworn in at a crucial moment.
He advised the directors to be accurate in their decision-making on investments when prices of cocoa go up and shouldn't only focus on production capacity but infrastructure as well.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Chairman of the Board, Joseph Kobina Essidu expressed appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity and pledged to work assiduously and professionally to help achieve CMC’s vision of becoming a world class company within Ghana’s cocoa industry.
