Investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has mocked President Akufo-Addo over the recent spate of renaming of institutions.
The former multimedia journalist waded in the controversy amidst the uproar by Ghanaians over the renaming of institutions by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led government.
There is a general public outcry on social media over the decision to rename some tertiary institutions in the country.
Recently, President Akufo-Addo renamed the Wa Campus of the University of Development Studies (UDS) after Simon D. Dombo and the Navorongo Campus after C.K Tedem, both stalwarts of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo political tradition.
Both institutions had also been made autonomous prior to their renaming.
During a keynote speech on Saturday, 10 August 2019 at the 4th Graduation Ceremony of the University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani in the Bono Region University, President Akufo-Addo announced the institution will be named after Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia.
In reaction, Ghanaians on social media expressed their disagreement over the decisions.
In a post on his Facebook page, Manasseh wrote: “Obi ato Omanpanin aduro anaa?”
“J.B. Danquah Republic of Ghana. Capital town, Kyebi” he added
