RSC Anderlecht goalkeeper Hendrik Van Crombrugge has said Jérémy Doku's red card played a role in their defeat over the weekend.
The Purple and White outfit were 2-0 losers at KV Mechelen in the Belgian elite division last Saturday.
Anderlecht were in control of the game before Doku was sent off on the stroke of halftime.
Mechelen scored the two goals in the second half when Anderlecht were down with one man.
"We were in control, we were getting opportunities, then there is the cardboard … and in the second period, it grows. At 10, we are forced to return to their physical game" he said.
However, Van Crombrugge refused to blame the youngster for the defeat.
"If I take it out on Doku? The only one who can take it out on Doku is himself and he is very angry with himself. He has already done so many positive things. He is a very young player and that is part of the learning process."
