Asante Kotoko captain Felix Annan says the Kumasi-based club will be eligible to represent Ghana in Africa Inter-Club competitions if the Ghana football season is truncated due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The 2019/20 Ghana Premier League remains halted and the Ghana Football Association will be communicating the decision they have taken on the league by the end of this month.

It will be recalled that Asante Kotoko was allowed by the Normalization Committee to participate in the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup because they won the 2017 MTN FA Cup and the next edition was cancelled in the aftermath of the Anas 12 expose.

According to Felix Annan, Kotoko will activate the same article to play in the 2020/21 CAF Champions League for winning the NC Tier 1 Cup in 2019 if the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League is truncated without a champion.

“Per what I know about CAF rules, we (Asante Kotoko) are still eligible to play in the champions league.

“The CAF rules state that if a season is not completed, or cancelled or suspended, because of a problem, the previous champions are to represent the country.

“So if the league is suspended or cancelled, I think we are still eligible to play in the champions league”, Annan told Takoradi based Skyy Power FM.
