Anti-Corruption Crusader and leading member of the Center for Budget Advocacy Vitus Azeem, has said the Bureau of National Investigation's (BNI) report on the sale of contaminated oil by Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), does not seek to satisfy the interest of Ghanaians.

He made the assertion on Atinka TV’s morning show Ghana Nie, labeling the report ridiculous since the BNI was not instructed by the Ministry of Energy to investigate the oil contamination.

To him the disposal of the fuel has a possible damage to owners of vehicles thereby not seeking the interest of the Ghanaians, stating that the whole investigation curtailed.

The BNI according to him was supposed to be a part of the appointed committee. “The BNI was tasked by another body to investigate the process and the minister should not have agreed to their findings since he had appointed a committee of which it fell within,” he said.

He hinted that there might be something with the report that was presented by the minister because it contradicted the actions taken by him (minster) earlier to rectify the situation but opted for the BNI’s findings.

“BNI was not instructed to investigate the contamination process but a different body so I see no reason for the minister to read a report from the BNI,” he said

He lashed out on the mantra of the president to fight against corruption as just a mere political pronouncement which he could not act upon, questioning if the president was not aware of the incident in his absence from the country.
