A Ghanaian citizen by name Nana Yaw Kesse has petitioned the Director-General of the CID, COP Isaac Ken Yeboah to initiate criminal actions against boxer Patrick Allotey who was seen on camera assaulting a football fan.

According to Nana Yaw Kesse, the actions of the boxer constitute a violation of the criminal law and must be prosecuted for going against the laws of the land.

He also extended the petition to the Ghana Boxing Authority, calling on them to crack the whip on the boxer for violating their regulations.

“There’s a very troubling video of Patrick Allotey, a professional boxer assaulting a football fan at the Accra Sports Stadium during the Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko match played on Sunday, 26th January 2020”.

“I am exercising my right as a citizen of the country to report what I consider to be a criminal offence”.

“I am also by the open letter officially drawing the attention of the Ghana Boxing Association to apply the needed sanctions,” excerpts of the statement read.

Patrick Allotey was captured on camera inflicting punches on a fan who was celebrating Kotoko’s 2-1 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak last Sunday.

Nana Yaw Kesse who prides himself as ‘a sports-loving person’ says he has been left traumatized by the boxer’s actions.

“As a sport-loving person, I am traumatized by the video since I believe every Ghanaian should feel safe in any sports facility.”

He again in the statement said, “I am also by this message drawing the attention of the National Sports Authority to put in place measures that ensure the safety and security of all sports-loving persons at all sporting events”.

Meanwhile, the GBA has condemned the actions of the boxer and promised to deal ruthlessly with him.

“The President of the GBA is very angry with him and he will, by all means, be sanctioned. His license can be revoked or he will be sanctioned for some time. What he did is not good and on behalf of the GBA, I want to say sorry to the victim and the Ghanaians. We will punish him and all boxers should learn from it”.

Patrick Allotey has also expressed regrets over his actions and promised to be a crusader for good behavior at stadiums.
