The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has described as worrisome the practice of government recruiting personnel outside the civil service for the association, emphasising that it stalls work and progress.

According to CLOGSAG Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe-Addo, civil servants must be viewed as partners of government for integrated development, hence arbitrary recruitments will not help.

His comment comes on the back of recent dismissals and transfers of some public servants under the Nana Akufo-Addo administration.

Mr Bampoe-Addo, who was speaking at this year's United Nations/African Public Service Day on the theme: "Entrenching A Citizen-Centred Service Delivery Culture: Partnering with the Youth for Africans Transformation", said on Friday June 23 that government should create a platform where the head of civil service and the head of local government service would be permitted to be part of cabinet meetings to be abreast of relevant issues concerning workers.

On his part, the former head of Civil Service, W.K. Kemevor, who addressed the gathering at the same event, charged members of the association to renew their commitment to the service.
