Chase Trasacco’s Taricone for €47m Waterville JD - Amidu submits proof to AG

Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has furnished the Attorney General (AG) with the needed evidence that will help the state recover a judgment debt of €47 million from Waterville Holdings which the AG has not been able to retrieve despite a determination to that effect by the Supreme Court.

Waterville Holdings was wrongfully paid the money in relation to the construction of football stadia for the CAN 2008 tournament.

Mr Amidu’s solo efforts led the apex court to determine in a judgement on 14 June 2013 that the payment was illegal and should be refunded.

Mr Amidu subsequently sued the AG and the parties involved on 9 September 2019, six years after the judgement, to compel the AG to carry out the court’s judgment.

The AG stated that she has had challenges locating assets of the firm across the globe to carry out the retrieval but Mr Amidu insisted that the Chairman of Trasacco Group of Companies in Ghana, Mr Ernesto Taricone was the beneficiary of the judgment debt and that the AG should direct its effort at him.

Mr Amidu filed his documentary proof to his claims at the Supreme Court on 29 October 2019, to enable the AG to carry out the action.

“At the hearing of the plaintiff/applicant’s [Mr Amidu’s] application on 16 October 2019, the plaintiff/applicant undertook to assist the 1st defendant/respondent [AG] by making available to the 1st defendant/respondent facts, which in the plaintiff/applicant’s plain view could have been used to establish that Mr Ernesto Taricone is the personification of the 2nd defendant/respondent, Waterville Holdings (BVI) Limited, and Micheletti & Co. Limited could be traced in Ghana and in Europe for purposes of enforcing the judgement of the Supreme Court,” portions of Mr Amidu’s documentary evidence stated.
