Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu – ambassador for charity Arms Around The Child – will be hosting a gala dinner on Wednesday 14th March 2018 at The Hilton Gateshead in Newcastle.

The fundraising event will combine the worlds of entertainment, football and business and ticket and tables are available to purchase now.

Newcastle’s own and Good Morning Britain and BBC News presenter Jane Witherspoon, will be presenting the event.

The night will begin with a drinks reception, followed by a sumptuous themed dinner evoking the flavours and aromas of Africa, followed by an auction with incredible once in a lifetime experiences to raise money for social and global change.

Revellers can then dance the night away to live music and DJs, including a performance from chart topping artist RAMZ.

Operating in India, South Africa and Ghana, Arms Around The Child provides safe loving homes, protection, education and support to children living in extreme adversity. The children are orphaned, abused, affected by HIV/AIDS, prey to those out to harm them, trafficked, sold or living in child headed households.

The event hopes to raise enough funds to build a school in Atsu’s home country Ghana, to benefit orphaned children and their local community.

The former Chelsea and Everton footballer’s father was a farmer and fisherman who died when Atsu was training at an academy in Ghana.

Ellie Milner, Arms Around The Child CEO said: “We’re certain that Newcastle’s strong sense of community and generosity will help make this event every bit the success we hope.

“We’re grateful for the support of our charity ambassador Christian Atsu, to help raise funds and drive awareness of the innocent, vulnerable children who desperately need our support.

“This school will help provide much needed stability and education to help improve lives and provide better futures.”

Tickets are £150 per person and are available from https://theblackstargala.eventbrite.co.uk.
