Appointees in the previous administration say they are prepared to meet prosecutors in court should the government decide to carry through its threats of hauling them.

“It has been ten months since they were sworn into office, they should go ahead and prosecute officials of the previous administration they believe committed crimes and stop worrying us. We are not scared of prosecutions and will have our day in court. The fact you have hauled me before court does not mean I would be jailed”, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho challenged.

According to him, they are claiming past officials were corrupt but have failed to head to the court to adduce evidence to that effect.

“They are claiming the past government officials were corrupt and they have issues. Let them go to court. They day they go to court whatever evidence they think they have, let them adduce that evidence, our lawyers will be there in court. The incoherent propaganda will not help”, he said.

Senior Minister, Hon. Yaw Osafo Marfo in July this year disclosed that the New Patriotic Party will fight to the tooth National Democratic Congress’ officials who are implicated in any corruption scandal.

The Minister who was speaking at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology at an Annual Delegates’ Congress disclosed that “all NDC government officials implicated in large-scale corruption scandals will be brought to book”.

He indicated that the New Patriotic Party will take Legal actions against any past government official who found or engaged him/herself in anything that made the state lose money or misappropriated state funds.

He indicated that the Mahama led administration left over several debts which has crippled the economy of Ghana and therefore urged NPP members and Ghanaians to exercise patience while the NPP works at putting the country on track.

“We are going through papers after that majority of the NDC party corrupt officials will be prosecuted. We don’t want to lose any case in court for accusing NDC official as corrupt therefore we’re looking into some of their contracts to get concrete evidence. We inherited poor economy and debt but we will not pay majority of NDC debt because if we try to pay all the NDC debt, Akufo-Addo cannot do any development”.

But the NDC said it is not perturbed by the incessant threats by officials of the ruling government.
