The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has revealed Investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni is corrupt and questioned his modus operandi.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, has accused the Investigative Journalist of entrapping the embattled CEO of the Public Procurement Authority, A.B Adjei through his cousin.

“If I say somebody is corrupt, I should make sure I am genuine before I point my finger at someone. He is a stomach and hungry Journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has no credibility. The investigations he did on suspended PPA boss A.B. Adjei is shallow and I expect him to come out with more details related to that,” Kennedy Agyapong told Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra based Kingdom FM 107.7.

The Ghanaian MP has launched a long tirade against the Freelance Journalist, accusing him of corruption and, an attempt to soil the CEO’s image saying Manasseh was not fair.

He insisted that Manasseh Azure Awuni had no moral grounds to investigate acts of alleged corruption when he himself has been captured on camera receiving 1,000Ghc on Saturday, 17/8/19.

“Manasseh Azure is an extortionist he is a corrupt Journalist and has no credibility, he always goes to Mr. A.B. Adjei for his daily chop money,” he added

The scandal has radically changed public perceptions of how politics works, the danger corporate power presents to democracy. It has electrified a dozy parliament and subjected the least accountable and most corrupt profession in Ghana – journalism – to belated public scrutiny.

Most national journalists are embedded, immersed in the society, beliefs, and culture of the people they are meant to hold to account. They are fascinated by power struggles among the elite but have little interest in the conflict between the elite and those they dominate. They celebrate those with agency and ignore those without.

Investigations by freelance investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, has revealed that Talent Discovery Limited, a company incorporated in June 2017, has won a number of government contracts through restrictive tendering.

Manasseh Azure Awuni has also confirmed that the company was engaged in selling contracts. Undercover encounters with the General Manager of the Company, Thomas Amoah, revealed that the company was selling a ¢22.3 million road contract to K-Drah Enterprise, a fake company Manasseh used for the investigation.

This contract was awarded to B-Molie Limited, a company Mr Amoah said was a sister company of TDL.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has however suspended Mr. AB Adjei from office, with immediate effect, the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Mr. AB Adjei after he was unmasked in an exposé over the alleged sale of contracts.

Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has also formally written to the suspended CEO of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Mr A.B. Adjei, to make himself available for investigation following allegations of corruption leveled against him.
