The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi -Boasiako popularly called ‘Chairman Wontumi’ has alleged that some NDC MPs and former ministers are begging him to intervene in the double salary allegations.

According to Chairman Wontumi, the Members of Parliament and former Ministers are on their knees begging him to intervene in the double salary allegations to save them from being prosecuted.

Some NDC MPs have come under attack over allegations that they received salaries while serving as both Members of Parliament and Ministers or Deputy Ministers.

Chairman Wontumi speaking to the party delegates after the regional elections of the party said the members who came to beg for him to intervene in the double salary allegation wanted to refund the money through him.

“About 5 days ago some NDC gurus, MPs and former ministers of Mahama administration came to me and their mission was that they wanted me to intervene in the double salary allegations. They told me that if care is not taken, they will be sent to court for prosecution so they want to act fast. They even told me that they are ready to refund the money back to me for me to intervene into the matter but I told them to give the money to the police,” he claimed.

Chairman Wontumi who retained his seat after going unopposed in the party’s regional elections held on Saturday April 21, 2018 failed to mention the names of the NDC MPs and former ministers who visited him to plead on their behalf.

He added that they committed a blunder by organising a press conference to deny the allegation made against them.
