Military and Police personnel are at their utmost at this time, making sure all and sundry adhere to the President’s orders for a partial lockdown in some parts of the country.
The President, Friday, March 27 2020, announced restrictions to movements in some parts of the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions, as part of efforts to contain and prevent further spread of the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana.
The order which took effect 1:00 am Monday morning, according to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will be implemented by some 2,000 personnel deployed by government for that purpose.
Though there were exemptions for some groups including food providers and commercial vehicles, there were still some rules they must abide with.
For commercial vehicles, for instance, they are to enforce the ‘social distancing’ rule that is, a limited number of passengers in the vehicle at every point.
Its day one of the partial lockdown and there are several military and police personnel in various parts of the country to ensure the laws are obeyed.
In some parts of Kasoa for instance, some military persons had taken up the temporary role of ‘loading passengers’. They stand at the popular bus-stops, make sure to observe how many passengers went aboard the vehicle and stopped any more when the numbers were going overboard.
