Veteran football administrator Kofi Manu, affectionately called Blue Boy believes Kotoko are facing the full brunt of FIFA in their legal tussle with Esperance over Emmanuel Clottey’s transfer because this is not the first time Kotoko has signed a player unlawfully.

The Disciplinary Committee of FIFA recently released their final verdict on the Kotoko-Esperance legal battle on the transfer of Emmanuel Klottey with a fine of $240,000 which ought to be paid before May 10, 2020.

According to Kofi Manu, Kotoko has gotten what others deem as a harsh verdict because this is the second time they have broken FIFA rules regarding the unlawful registration of a player, the first being Kotoko’s signing of George Arthur from Al Masry in the 90’s.

Speaking to the Kumasi based Light FM, he said “FIFA is being so strict because after 20 years Kotoko has repeated the same mistake.”

“Kotoko took George Arthur from Al Masry whiles he was under contract with the Egyptian side and the case travelled to FIFA who told Arthur to pay Al Masry before he can play football again.”

“Kotoko wasn’t responsible and George Arthur didn’t pay the money before he died. These records are there so FIFA has made amendments in the regulations and laws” He added.

Kotoko are facing a demotion from the Ghanaian top-flight if they fail to pay the money owed Esperence next month.
