Former Black Stars captain’s manager, Samuel Anim Addo has shared his experience with the delegates at the just ended Exco election.

According to him, the saying “‘fear delegates’ each time there is an upcoming election” is true and should not be taken for granted.

He said this after he pulled a surprising win at the Ghana Football Association Executive Committee elections.

Asamoah Gyan’s manager, Samuel Anim Addo, was voted to be part of the three representatives of the Division One League on the Executive Council after he pulled 19 votes in the elections.

Speaking to the media after his shocking GFA Exco victory, Sammy Anim Addo said “It wasn’t an easy thing. They say fear delegates, fear delegates, fear delegates; that thing is true. If you joke with it you’re joking.”

According to him, he didn’t put his faith in the delegates but in God who secured ultimate victory for him, unlike how some candidates relied on delegates only to be disappointed in the long run.

“One thing is that you not being complacent is key. I was not complacent, even when we woke up this morning we did so many things, that we prayed to God and told God that you have given us a promise, let it count,” he said.

He further added that “God directed me to do something, one thing that I did was getting to the delegates myself and not depending on a presidential candidate to talk to somebody for me...Spirituality is key, if you’re not clean, if you don’t believe in God, if you believe in different gods you’re in a problem. If I didn’t stick to my God and listened to somebody and I listened to people who will say that go to somewhere, I would have been in trouble. I think this is a great lesson.”

Sammy Anim Addo will serve alongside Kpando Hearts of Lions President, Randy Abbey, who had 26 votes and Nzema Kotoko President, Mark Addo, who also had 25 votes.

Lawyer Kwaku Ayiah, however, got 7 votes joining the likes of Gideon Ofosu, Justice Boison and Eric Oppong as candidates who lost their place on the Exco.

The new executive Council members will serve on the council for the next four years.

Asamoah Gyan in a congratulatory message to his manager on his Instagram page said “I told you. Your hard work paid off. Congratulations @sammy_anim for been elected as a member of the GFA Division one Executive Committee. Ghana be ready for grassroot football”.
