The Ghana Football Association has included penalty shootouts as part of the modalities for the Special Competition for the clubs.

The Normalisation Committee as part of efforts to ensure football returns in the country has rolled out a special competition which will begin January 26.

The modalities and format have been set but one key thing set out to make the competition different is the introduction of a penalty shootout.

This move according to President of the Normalisation Committee Dr Kofi Amoah, is to help improve the art of penalty taking amongst players.

Ghana over the years has suffered at different levels with penalties in major competitions.

From club football to national teams, it has been our bane to ending the country's long wait for an African title.

The very recent example is when Ghana U17 Women’s team suffered from the penalty voodoo as they fell to Mexico at the Quarter final stage of the 2018 FIFA U 17 Women's World Cup in Uruguay.
