The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Joseph Kofi Ada, has revealed that government has secured one hundred acre piece of land to serve as transfer points as part of efforts to deal with sanitation issues.

According to him, his ministry has not relented in its quest of ensuring the President’s vision of making Accra the cleanest city by 2020 come to fruition.

Speaking to Class News on the sidelines of the One Ghana Movement action series on Tuesday, 27 February 2018, Mr Addah said: “Every Ghanaian is interested in sanitation and as we speak, some land owners have offered some lands on which we are going to construct material recovery site which is a new form of land fill site. Meaning there will be an integrated facility that will have the sorting station, compost processing plant, recycling wing and waste energy wind.”

On his part, Accra Mayor, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, revealed that the Kpone Land Fill site does not work throughout the day making it difficult to convey refuse collected at peak hours to be dumped at the location.

He added that decongestion exercises have its own peculiar challenges in ensuring utmost security to make it a success.
