Harry Redknapp reveals disappointment at Badu snub
Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp has opened up about his disappointment of missing out on the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu.
Badu was the subject of a transfer tug of war in the past month with Birmingham, Huddersfield and Swansea City all interested in his signature.
The 26 year old midfielder however ended up signing for Turkish outfit Bursaspor on loan from Udinese, and the transfer didn’t sit well with former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp.
“I did a deal the other day for a lad from Udinese – Badu – a Ghanaian boy and top midfield player. I drove to Huddersfield to watch him play,” he told talkSPORT in the UK.
“It took me six-and-a-half hours to get to Huddersfield, met him after and then spoke to him two days ago and he gave me his word on the phone that he wanted to play for me.
“He is a really good player. his value is £6million and we were going to loan him for a year. I wake up the next morning and he has signed for a Turkish club!”
Badu has spent Udinese seven years at the Italian side and was very keen to move away but he added that he would only settle for a good deal.
