The speed ramps were constructed to help reduce accidents in the area

A resident of Ho has funded the construction of speed ramps on the Ho to Kpalime road after many unheeded calls to municipal authorities following unnecessary loss of dear lives in accidents on the stretch last year alone.
Mr. Kofi Bob Dusu, a businessman and resident told GhanaWeb correspondent, Peter Atsu Ahianyo, that accidents on stretch have claimed the lives of many people last year and residents are tired of waiting for help or interventions from the municipal authorities who seemed unconcerned.
Residents and business owners along the stretch on several occasions lamented the careless driving on the road and asked city authorities to build speed ramps which the city authorities said they cannot construct to arrest the worrying phenomenon. This, according to Mr. Bob led him to take the decision of funding the construction of the speed ramps.
Mr. Bob further indicated that he personally met the authorities of the Ho Municipal Assembly over the phenomenon, after which the Assembly directed him to Urban Roads department. According to him, Regional Urban Roads said they cannot immediately respond to his call to build speed ramps on the stretch.
He then met his team and decided to build the ramps for due to his love human lives, adding that the project cost him about GHC20,000.
The first phase of the project has since been completed under the supervision of the Regional Urban Roads.
The Regional Engineer for Urban Roads, Ing. Gershon Banaman showered praises on the businessman and resident of the municipality for such initiative and pledged to make sure the constructor does the exact work.
‘I am ready to collaborate and contribute with other stakeholders to help develop Ho, Volta region and Ghana as a whole’, Mr. Bob was quoted as saying. He further advised drivers and motorbike users to take precautions serious in order to safe their own lives as well as the lives of pedestrians.
