The Independent candidate in the 2016 polls, Jacob Osei Yeboah (JOY) is convinced leading member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Horace Nii Ankrah will put the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) on a political highway should he be brought to the limelight to lead NDC as its Presidential candidate.

Horace Nii Ankrah is not counted among the formidable forces tipped for Flagbearership position in the main opposition party, as it’s unclear whether the politician even sees himself as a possible great hope in contest for NDC’s presidential candidacy in 2020.

But Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah, most fascinated about what he described as Ankrah’s “progressive mentality” says he’s all that NDC needs in their search for Presidential candidate.

“I believe if NDC is able to get such a person as Flagbearer, it would help them a lot. He has a progressive mentality devoid of partisanship. He can make a good Presidential Candidate for the NDC,” JOY told sit-in host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Wednesday.

Horace Nii Ankrah on the same platform had espoused a dispassionate conversation as he lauded the efforts of President Akufo-Addo in his mantra “Ghana beyond Aid, saying it’s intriguing to see the President trying to change the psyche of Ghanaians, a task he referred to as very difficult.

“For us all to agree that we should be a country just being sufficient in everything, is enough. And I believe, that is the call of the President.

“As a country, 61 years of our Independence is enough for us to have achieved many things, but we’re still lagging behind. Can you believe that, when you go to the hospital you’re made to pay for even cotton wool, a country like Ghana in the Century 21st, even getting mere ambulance for our healthcare system, we need to solicit for loans to get 100 of them; shameful and not even automatic vehicles.

“What have we identified that we want to change with the Ghanaian characteristics? You cannot even import democracy. You can only tailor your democracy around your culture to make it work. So President Akufo-Addo is spot on by saying “We should live beyond Aid”, but it’s a difficult task to undertake. It should be a collective effort in achieving that. However, as Ghanaians we seem to politicize everything. I am sure if the President brings out his plans for us to work towards being self sufficient, we will politicize it; we’ll not see it as Ghanaian. What is wrong in me being NDC, and making sure that Ghana works and vice versa? It’s all about making sure we progress as a nation. Let us all support the President’s call and leave politics out of it.” the soft-spoken Politician and Diplomat in the NDC regime said.

Meanwhile, it’s quite difficult to tell whether Mr Horace Nii Ankrah who supported former President Mahama in his second term bid for the Presidency in 2016 will be a ‘good flavour’ in the Presidential mix that has powerful forces like Legislator for Nadowli Kaleo, Alban Bagbin, former Chief Executive of the National Insurance Health Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah, 59-year old academic, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Dr Ekow Spio Gabrah.
