A former Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Sampson Ahi has denied being a beneficiary of $200,000 from a businessman in return for a state- owned land.

Mr Ahi who has confirmed meeting Mr Anane Boateng in the company of Baba Jamal said he told them during their first encounter in 2016 that his outfit was not responsible for the sale of state lands and therefore said he could not be of help.

“He came to my office with Baba Jamal and expressed interest in buying a land but I told them that I do not sell lands aside the fact that my ministry was not responsible for that. I never received any money from him or anyone. I did not even negotiate the price of any land with him”, he revealed on Accra-based Montie Fm.

According to him, the man in question called him later to ask for a refund of the amount since he was being unsuccessful in securing the land a development that shocked him because he never received any amount personally or through his assignees.

Meanwhile, Anane Boateng insists Baba Jamal who is also a former Member of Parliament for Akwatia in the Eastern Region collected $100,000 from him during an earlier meeting but denied giving same to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bodi Constituency in the Western Region.

“I did not give any money to Hon. Ahi; I only met with him after Baba Jamal told me that he had given him some money… I later found out to be false”

Maverick New Patriotic Party (NPP) Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Ogarniser , Kwame Baffoe alias Abronye DC claimed on Oman FM’s political analysis programme ‘Boiling Point’, Tuesday, 22nd August 2017 that Baba Jamal and Sampson Ahi are allegedly involved in fraud.

But the Anane Boateng in a sharp rebuttal said: “I promised to give Baba Jamal an equal amount of the initial payment of $100,000 which was meant for Samson Ahi after the land was secured but it turned out that Baba did not fulfill his part of the deal”
