A national Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has revealed that in the heat of the 2016 elections, he had no time for himself such that he could not bathe for three day.

According to him, he found himself in a difficult circumstance as the Director of Election for the NDC as his schedule was so demanding that there was practically no opportunity for him to have a good shower to cool his nerves after a hectic period of work.

“I was in the collation room of the party at the party headquarters together with Campaign National Coordinator, Kofi Adams, National Chairman and several others and you know, for the first time in my life for three days, I never had my bath. I was in one attire for three days, a day before the election, the day of the election and the day after the election I was in one attire. I never slept, no shower, no deodorant but well, I have a good skin so… I’m telling you of the reality we went through,” he told Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM Wednesday.

The former Local Government Minister refuted rumour that he called then Presidential candidate Akufo Addo to conceded NDC’s defeat ahead of the official declaration of the results by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

Former President John Mahama, then flag bearer of the NDC, lost by more than 9% of total votes to the NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo.

Akufo-Addo obtained a staggering 5,716,609 of total votes cast in the 2016 elections, representing 53.84%, to snatch the Presidency from John Mahama, who secured 4,713,277 votes (44.40%).

The NDC also lost more than 40 parliamentary seats to the NPP.
