Isaac Adongo praised for role in coronavirus fight

Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency in the Upper East Region, Isaac Adongo has attracted commendations from a section of his constituents on his approach towards the prevention of Covid19.

The MP has made the biggest donation of medical essentials so far in the region among incumbent MPs.

Mr. Adongo has single handedly gathered Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) worth over Eighty Thousand Cedis( Ghc 80,000.00) through a crowd funding from his contacts.

The items procured by the Mr. Adongo were;100 non disposable medically approved sanitized overall wears, 100 disposable overall wears, boxes of medically approved hand sanitizers, 80 Veronica buckets, 2 disinfectant spraying machines, boxes containing examination gloves, liquid soap and large quantities of N95 surgical masks.

The donation was preceded by a launch of media campaign against the deadly COVID-19 virus in the Constituency.

In his address to the Media during the launch,the MP pontificated that the role of Journalists was very crucial in educating the public to prevent the outbreak and spread of Coronavirus in the country, a reason that informed him to take that initiative.

The MP while underscoring the importance of medical essentials in the fight against Covid19,lamented that another threat that needed attention was attitudinal change.

“This is a very difficult assignment particularly for political players who have to find the skill to work with public officers in a way that allow people to still see them as public officers and not political players and so throughout these difficulties, I have had to rely on the expertise of and the technical advice of the Municipal Health Director in consultation with the Regional Health Director because they are the people we can rely on at this moment political players really are not expect in all fields but, we actually worked towards making sure that policy making and implementation are consistent with the interest of our people”. He said.



r. Adongo has also indicated that the Minority was ready to support government fright the disease.

Upper East Regional Director of Health Dr. Winfred Ofosu praised the media for it’s cooperation so far in the fight against the deadly coronavirus in the region.

Dr. Ofosu,said the awareness creation by the media has contributed significantly especially in rural communities.

This he says, has made residents vigilante at unapproved routes and even their family members who have returned to communities affected with Covid19.

“I must say that the media has done so well. Today, if you enter any of our communities, they have gotten the message now.if you say you are a’Burger’ they will quickly alert the task force and the task force will take care of you. But we are not done yet, we need to continue giving information to our people”. He said

Meanwhile, a Team of Public Health Officials was unveiled to take charge of the sensitization campaign within the Municipality.

According to the Team Leader of Isaac Adongo against COVID-19 Gifty Atampugre,her Team will be engaging communities on the sensitization and prevention against the deadly virus.

“We will intensify door to door education for those did not had the opportunity to listen radio or even watch on television. Having a collaboration with our honorable Member of Parliament is something we are happy about, throughout our education to the public, there is always this question like, you have taught us this that, but we cannot get the logistics you are asking us to use to prevent some of the diseases like the hand washing. So it was a privilege for this collaboration to take place, because now, after our education we will present some logistics in the form of what they can use to prevent the spreed among themselves”. She explained
