Ghanaian international, Jordan Ayew, played a vital role for Swansea City as they ended the 14-match unbeaten run in the English Premier League on Monday night.
The 25-year-old midfielder was the key man for Swans upfront as they secured all three points at the Liberty Stadium but Ayew could only last for 79 minutes as he was replaced by veteran striker Wilfried Bony.
Swansea took the lead against the run of play just before half-time when Mawson swept the ball in from a corner after Van Dijk failed to head clear.
The ball struck Swansea captain Federico Fernandez and Mawson swivelled to shoot past Liverpool keeper Loris Karius.
Liverpool’s Firmino came close to scoring the equaliser for the Reds in that late stages of the second half but was denied by the post as Liverpool’s progress towards securing a Champions League spot was halted by the Premier League’s bottom club.
