Ken Agyapong is incompetent; he’s outlived his relevance as MP – Assin Central NDC

The Assin Central wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described Kennedy Ohene Agyapong as an incompetent leader who has outlived his relevance as Member of Parliament for the Constituency.

According to the members of the largest opposition party in Assin Central, Mr. Agyapong’s utterances and actions have brought nothing but disgrace and underdevelopment to the Constituency.

They alleged that the outspoken MP who is an ardent critic of Anas Aremeyaw Anas admitted that he was influenced by the NPP to peddle falsehood against the award-winning undercover journalist and his Tiger Eye PI team.

They recalled how the controversial lawmaker descended heavily on Anas and his team following the release of the Number 12 documentary on corruption in the GFA.

They claimed, Mr. Agyapong while speaking at the inauguration of NPP Youth, Women and Nasara wings of the Assin Central Constituency on March 17, 2019 at Assin Nyankumasi, “confessed that all he has said about Anas and his team were untruths and that he has been used by his party to do dirty works and perpetuate falsehood.”

This, according to them, proves “that Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has become a liability and albatross on the neck of the people of Assin Central and he has outlived his relevance as an MP” because “it extremely disgraceful for Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to publicly admit that he has been used by his party, the NPP to do diabolical jobs. Where lies his dignity and integrity?”

They described Mr. Agyapong as an incompetent MP who has failed to deliver on his mandate in his 20years of being the legislator for the constituency.

“Kennedy Agyapong has been an MP for almost 20 years and he has not been able to rent nor build a befitting office for his party in the constituency. It took a member of the NPP (Mr. Kuttin) to rent and furnish an office for the NPP in Assin central. This shows how incompetent Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has been even in his own party let alone the entire constituency,” the constituency wing of the NDC stated.

The party has vowed to snatch power from Mr. Agyapong and whoever is contesting on the ticket of the NPP in the upcoming general elections in 2020.

“Hon. Kennedy Agyapong was also heard saying he will not contest again but quickly made a U-turn to accept that he will contest when a group of hired NPP women appealed to him to rescind his decision. Only ignoramus will believe this ancient strategy he has been adopting. The last time he claimed the chiefs begged him to contest and now a group of NPP women are begging him to contest. The NDC Assin Central is focused on winning the Parliamentary seat come 2020, irrespective of who is contesting on the ticket of the NPP.

The Assin Central NDC has learnt with utter shock and dismay, the recent utterances of our Member of Parliament, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong during the inauguration of the NPP Youth, Women and Nasara wings of the Assin Central Constituency on Sunday, 17th March, 2019 at Assin Nyankumasi. It has since been obvious that Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has become a liability and albatross on the neck of the people of Assin Central and he has outlived his relevance as an MP.

Not long ago, the internationally recognized investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas released a video that exposed corrupt activities at GFA which indicted the President, vice president and Kennedy Agyapong himself. After the release of the said video, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong also released a video titled “WHO WATCHES THE WATCHMAN” in an attempt to also expose Anas which didn’t yield any results. He churned out a lot baseless accusations against Anas which we in the NDC cautioned him to concentrate his energy on pursuing things that will bring development to the people that voted him to Parliament.

But in his speech last Sunday, he confessed that all he has said about Anas and his team were untruths and that he has been used by his party to do dirty works and perpetuate falsehood. Isn’t it extremely disgraceful for Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to publicly admit that he has been used by his party, the NPP to do diabolical jobs? Where lies his dignity and integrity?

The NDC Assin Central is focused on winning the Parliamentary seat come 2020, irrespective of who is contesting on the ticket of the NPP.

We have heard rumours about the cessation of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s monopoly within the NPP in Assin Central. Information gathered indicates that people are lacing their boots to contest him in the upcoming NPP parliamentary primaries to ensure that he does not contest unopposed as has been the case always.

Kennedy Agyapong has been an MP for almost 20 years and he has not been able to rent nor build a befitting office for his party in the constituency. It took a member of the NDC (Mr. Kuttin) to rent and furnish an office for the NPP in Assin central. This shows how incompetent Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has been even in his own party let alone the entire constituency.

Our MP is noted for comments and actions that has only brought shame, hatred and under development to the people of Assin central including but not limited to the following;

Insults and attacks on the person of the former EC Boss, Charlotte Osei. Denigration of Parliament where he belongs to currently and being fed. Inciting violence on investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein Suale by and showing his pictures which probably led to his murder.

Claim that people Assin people are lazy and that led to the collapse of his company when he couldn’t manage his own company. The recent verbal assault on the Central Regional Minister and the Central Regional Police Commander

In view of the above and others not mentioned, we request the Chiefs, citizens and all stakeholders of Assin central to collectively and unanimously condemn the consistent disgraceful and shameful utterances and actions of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong. For almost 20 years as an MP, he can’t boast of any significant projects in the constituency. All that he keeps on saying is “l pay people’s school fees and medical bills”. Does he know the number of philanthropists in Assin that does that? Where is the MP’s common fund he has taken for almost 20 years?

It is about time the good people of Assin Central rise up to show him the red card. Assin Central deserves better. Enough is enough!!!!!
