MTN commissions 20-unit dormitory for WAG

The MTN Ghana Foundation on Thursday commissioned and handed over a newly-refurbished dormitory to the Women Action Group (WAG) Vocational Training Centre in Accra.

The 20-unit project which forms part of MTN’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care program also saw the telecom giants renovate the institute’s washrooms.

The project was constructed by staff o MTN and Yello volunteers and aimed at helping the institute deliver quality services to women.

In an interview with the press at the commissioning, the Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana, Samuel Koranteng commended the MTN staff and volunteers for the help they provided in the construction of the project.

He also expressed the hope that the project will aid WAG in their bid to equip more women with skills.

“In relation to our 21-Days MTN Yello Care which has resulted in this project, the theme for this year was creating a ‘Brighter Future for the Youth. So in relation to the other project we did around the country in the 21-Days of Yello Care this was one of them.

“It is in relation to empowering our youth and ensuring that they have the skillset to be able to go out there to fend for themselves economically, to fend for their families, etc”.

Founder and proprietor oF WAG, Felicia Adade highlighted the accommodation challenges facing the centre and expressed gratitude to MTN for coming to their aid.

She also called on other corporate institute to emulate the benevolent works of MTN.

“Am so grateful to MTN. They are really doing well. Moving around and coming to us here we are so much grateful and it’s a miracle”, she noted.

She added, “This is going to help us because the villages around, some of them are very far and the T&T is a problem so most of them sleep in the classroom which is not the best for them. Now that we have the facility we can take more students too especially those who cannot afford the T&T”.
