Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Malik Akowuah has warned his teammates not to be complacent in their subsequent Premier League matches after beating arch rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Accra last Sunday.
Akowuah, who was adjudged man of the match in the super clash, explained they have a lot more to prove if they are to have a great season and challenge for the title.
Hearts broke a seven-year jinx at home against Kotoko when Vincent Atinga's penalty earned them a vital three point at the expense of the Porcupine Warriors.
In an interview with the Footballghana, the former Medeama player revealed that management's promises and determination played a key role in their triumph last Sunday.
"I can say that we were determined for the victory after all the promises given to us by management and that gave us the edge over our counterparts," he said.
"We have a lot to prove in our subsequent matches if we are to challenge for the league title at the end of the season and I want to ward my colleagues about being complacent," he added.
