Absa Premiership side Maritzburg United have discouraged Ofori’s multiple suitors by exercising the Ghanaian goalkeeper's one-year contract extension option.
The 26-year-old Ofori joined the KwaZulu-Natal side from Wa All Stars before growing his name to become the most sought-after keeper in South Africa – with giants Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns knocking for his signature for nearly two seasons.
Following United’s refusals to sell, the club have now extended the Black Stars’ number one contract.
“Had it confirmed that Maritzburg United have officially exercised their one-year option on goalkeeper Richard Ofori, extending his stay until June 2021,” confirmed SA’s leading journalist Joe Crann.
Meanwhile, Ofori’s side lies fifth in the league with six games to the end of the currently suspended season.
