The Minority Leader and MP for Tamale South Hon Haruna Iddrisu has said a major challenge confronting the country which must be quickly addressed, is the allocation of funds to the Minister for Special Development Initiatives to undertake projects in the various metropolis, municipalities and Districts.
According to the minority leader such arrangement could bring serious conflict between the Minister for Special Development Initiatives and the MMDCEs who are in charge of the administration of their areas on behalf of the President of the republic as well as Members of Parliament.
Hon Haruna Iddrisu made the observation at the Post Budget Workshop organized for Members of Parliament in Koforidua in the Eastern region to throw more light on the 2019 budget to members of the House.
Hon Haruna Iddrisu also called for accountability on funds allocated in the 2018 budget for the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) as the programme was actually launched in October 2018 just three months to the end of the 2018 financial year.
Hon Haruna Iddrisu said the introduction of NABCO by government is worrying as government already has to grapple with a large public sector workers of about 700, 000.
