A highly defensive Elmina Sharks side forced a point at the Theatre of Dreams by holding Dreams FC in the final game of the first round of the NC Special Competition.

An unlucky Dreams FC side fought against the woodworks on two occasions when all knew the Still Believe lads would have been in front.

The solid defence of Elmina Sharks kept their back impenetrable and not even the intelligence or Samuel Alabi or the ingenuity of Ibrahim Issah could break through.

The home side announced their intentions early in the game with striker Michael Amoh threatening the goal area but his final delivery was always poor.

Samuel Alabi unleashed a brilliant curler 15 minutes into the game but his effort after beating goalkeeper Attach Richard went straight into the bar.

The visitors turned the heat on the home side with a quick counter-attack but Richard Mpong’s effort was cooly collected by Isaac Amoako.

Amoako was again called to duty to save the situation when a poor communication gap between the Dreams FC defenders.

The home side turned their possessive play into a swift attack when Razak Cromwell beautiful sent a long ball to Montari Kamaheni but his cross travelled over the line for a goal kick on the stroke of half time.

The return from recess saw Dreams FC rejuvenated with the introduction of Kwadjo Asamoah and Godwin Okudjato for Michael Agbekornu and Philemon Baffour respectively.

Dreams dictated the pace again at the start of the half, turning on the heat on the Sharks but goalkeeper Atta employed some intelligence to wither down the pressure.

Dreams FC looked to have grabbed the winner when Godwin Okudjato beautifully turned round his marker and released a beautiful drive to the left corner of the Sharks net only for the ball to hit the crossbar again.

The incessant pressure from the Still Believe boys wasn’t enough to open the Sharks defence as the referee brought the game to a close.

The draw leaves Dreams FC winless in their last four games with Elmina Sharks still unbeaten in the competition.
