Former President John Mahama has urged persons contesting for regional positions in the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be decent in their campaigns.
In a goodwill message to the contestants, Mr Mahama said: “Let me once again extend to you all, my very best wishes as you go through the final stage of campaigning for positions at the regional level of our party.
“With some regions already done with elections for the youth and women wings, I reiterate my call for mature, decent and all-inclusive campaigning.
“With our goal firmly fixed on victory in the 2020 elections, the NDC can only be better off if we come out of these elections across the ten regions united. The NDC is ready to prepare assiduously for the 2020 elections.”
The NDC is expected to elect its regional executives nationwide today, Saturday, 1 September 2018.
Delegates from all 275 constituencies are expected to assemble at various designated centers to perform the exercise.
Founder of the NDC, former President Jerry John Rawlings had earlier urged delegates participating in the elections to elect committed executives who will serve the interest of the party.
