Hon. Alban SK Bagbin was given a huge New Year boost in his quest to lead the NDC as its flagbearer after the Kaleo Traditional Council – a powerful traditional authority in the Upper West Region of Ghana – threw their weight behind him.
Headed by the Kaleo Paramountcy, the Kaleo Traditional Council and its Divisional Chiefs from several communities in the area hailed the move by their own son to contest for the flagbearership of the NDC and also for doing the entire Upper West region proud in Ghana’s political history.
At a pre-New Year meeting held at the headquarters of the Kaleo Traditional Council in Kaleo on Monday, 31st December, 2018, the influential parliamentarian reiterated his desire to contest for the position of NDC Flagbearer and asked for their blessings. “Having already toured a number of regions, i think it is now time for me to come home, seek your blessings, and make our collective stake as a region for the highest office of the land” Hon Bagbin said to them.
The 2nd Deputy Speaker added that since politicians alone cannot develop Ghana, they needed to work in close collaboration with traditional authorities since they (traditionalists) were closer to the people.
Without exception, the powerful traditional authority gave him their full backing and blessings, acknowledging his immense contribution to the growth of the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency, the political development in the region and Ghana at large.
They expressed a strong belief that their very own son, who has for more than two decades demonstrated sterling leadership in Parliament and in Governance, cannot let them down if he is given a chance to make a run for the Presidency by the NDC Party; hence their massive show of support for him.
With the full weight and spiritual backing of over 14 divisional chiefs, sub chiefs and Senior Royals and Tindaamba, Hon. Bagbin is assured of massive victory when the NDC Primaries are finally held later this month.
