NDC bigwigs on Wontumi’s payroll – NDC’s Yamoah Ponkoh
Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ejisu Juabeng in Ashanti region Afrifa Yamoah Ponko has alleged that some grandees of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) are in the pocket of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
According to him, these senior party officials who are in positions of trust in the NDC are at the beck and call of the NPP Chairman popularly known as “Chairman Wontumi’.
“Currently, there are some NDC bigwigs on Wontumi’s payroll, he pays them, services them and does so many things for them. Some of these people I’m talking about hold positions of trust in the NDC and they profess to be working for the NDC but Wontumi is taking care of all of them. He has them all in his pocket. So if he Wontumi comes out to say that he influenced the outcome of our recent Parliamentary primaries to ensure that the results inure to his New Patriotic Party’s benefit I won’t doubt him at all. I don’t fear him but he’s a serious guy.” Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh stated in a radio interview monitored by Kasapafmonline.com.
He added that ‘Chairman Wontumi’ is one politician that the NDC must fear because he[Wontumi] is a political strategist whose work is evident for all to see.
Chairman Wontumi has revealed that he sponsored the defeat of NDC’s member of Parliament of Kumbugu constituency in the Northern region Ras Mubarak.
Responding to Wontumi’s claim, Mr. Yamoah Ponkoh said the NDC must take the former’s claim seriously.
“I’m worried our people see Wontumi as a joke, they have no idea of what the young rich guy can do with money. He Wontumi facilitated the removal of Kojo Bonsu in KMA and also made sure the assembly members of Ejusu Juaben oppose my second appointment as Municipal Chief Executive by former president John Dramani Mahama. Must we joke with such a person” he asked?
