Deputy Minister of Transport and the Member of Parliament for Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, is calling members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) a bunch of ‘Johnnie Walker’ wannabes.

This is over their announced participation in the upcoming ‘Kum Yen Preko’ demonstration against alleged hardships in Ghana.

Reacting in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, he said the opposition members who will be led by former President John Mahama, to walk, felt they needed to exercise because they had been keeping company with the armchair for too long.

“You see, life has improved a lot under President Akufo-Addo and the bumper harvest that the Planting for Food and Jobs programme has yielded has helped them to put on weight and so they need to shed some of the weight, hence the desire to go and do ‘Johnnie Walker’ on Tuesday,” Titus Glover said.

The lampooning MP for Tema East encouraged all NDC members and supporters to follow their leader to the ‘Kum Yen Preko’ demo on Tuesday saying, “exercise is good for the body.”

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is readying to lead an anti-government demonstration on Tuesday against supposed hardships in the country under President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Though NDC is not the only party billed to take part, as other opposition parties and interest groups such as Civil Society Organisations are also billed to take part, and expected to be led by former President John Mahama.

But Titus Glover has observed that any motive behind the demonstration was a flimsy one as evidence on the ground showed that Ghanaians were not dying under President Akufo-Addo, as the name of the demonstration suggested.

“Children are going to school for free under Free SHS, bumper harvests are happening because of planting for food and jobs, graduates are getting temporal jobs on which they will get training under NABCO, roads are being built, our macro economy is a healthy picture, inflation is single digit, yet still you say you are dying because of hardship, how?” Titus-Glover asked.

He said the NDC was mischievous and could never be expected to say anything good about the NPP Government and mischief motivated their declaration to participate in the upcoming ‘Kum Yen Preko’ demonstration.

“In life when you do too much mischief, mischief begins to do you. Because of mischief, you will be a Johnnie Walker at your own ‘Kum Yen Preko’ demonstration.” Titus-Glover said.
