NDC primaries set for January 19; presidential aspirants to pay GHC420,000

Presidential aspirants of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will have to cough out an estimated amount of GHC20, 000 to pick forms to contest in a race scheduled for January 19, 2019.

The aspirants will also have to pay a whooping amount of GHC400, 000 as filing fee in order to partake in the contest.

This was made known at a press conference held Thursday at the party's headquarters.

In a report filed by Peacefmonline's Isaac Owusu, nomination will be opened today, Thursday November 29.

Meanwhile, all female flagbearer aspirants as well as persons with disability aspiring to the same position, are to pay GHS200,000.

About 11 people including former President John Mahama have declared their intention to lead the NDC in the 2020 polls.

The former President wants a comeback while the others are asking members to choose a new face to lead the party.

They are: Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin; a former Trade Minister, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah and a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Adinam Mensah.

The rest are the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Professor Joshua Alabi; a banker and oil and gas consultant, Nurideen Iddrisu; the Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast South, George Kwaku Ricketts Hagan; a member of the NDC’s communication team, Stephen Atubiga; lawyer­­­ Elikplim Agbemava, Mr David Dotse Kwame Kuwadah and Goosie Tanoh.
